5 Best Gift Ideas for Mom

5 Best Gift Ideas for Mom

Are you ready for Sunday?

What do you mean, “What’s on Sunday?” It’s Mother’s Day, silly!

Do you have that perfect gift yet? Remember, finding the best gift doesn’t have to be difficult, especially when the best gift you could give your mom is your time and attention.

So, without further ado, here are our five best gift ideas for creating a meaningful Mother’s Day for the No. 1 woman in your life.

1. Music to Mom’s Ears

Do you remember the mixed tapes from the ‘90s and early 2000s that made our hearts sing? Each song meant something special, and receiving a mixed tape meant that someone put in the time and effort to find your favorite songs.

Well, just because tape players have gone out of style doesn’t mean you can’t get a little creative and offer your mom the feeling you once had when receiving mixed tapes.

Here are the steps:
1) Find out the program that your mom uses to listen to music (iTunes, Spotify, etc.).
2) Create a playlist of your mom’s favorite songs using that app or program.
3) Personalize the playlist title. Choose something sweet, such as “I Love You Mom,” something playful, or maybe even an inside joke that only the two of you will understand.
4) Sync the playlist to her phone or whatever device she uses to listen to music.
Tip: You don’t need to steal her phone! Just tell her that you want to show her an interesting app you discovered, or that there’s a new software update that you want to download for her.

If your mom loves to listen to music, take your gift one step further and teach her how to make her own playlists. It’s a gift that will keep on giving.

Bonus: Get her stunning Dulcia earbuds as icing on the proverbial cake.

2. A Clean Home Makes a Happy Mom

Hey, that rhymed! (Kind of.)

So many moms spend a significant amount of their time keeping the house neat and tidy on a regular basis. With that in mind, we are pretty sure she will appreciate you taking the time to make it spotless. Here’s a suggestion: Lure mom away with a trip to the spa and surprise her with a spotless house when she gets home.

Go all out: Dust the furniture, sweep the floors, vacuum the carpet, scrub the counters and, for extra bonus points, clean out the garage or organize that overflowing storage closet! Trust us, she will truly appreciate the effort.

Tip: Don’t break anything!

3. For a Mom Who Loves to Cook

If your mom is always trying out new recipes that she discovers online, save her time (and a tree or two) by giving her VersaCover for her iPad.

VersaCover is inspired by origami. Its unique folding cover will display your mom’s iPad at all the right angles for typing, watching, and browsing the web. Imagine how much easier it will be for your mom to watch a “how-to” video or reference a new recipe when she doesn’t need to prop her iPad up against the wall with a bag of sugar!

As a bonus, add on our iVisor AG screen protector to eliminate the aftermath of sticky or greasy fingers that are unavoidable when your mom types or swipes on the iPad while cooking. Because iVisor AG is washable and reusable, it’s easy to clean. Just remove from the iPad, wash with tap water, let it dry and stick it back on. Talk about useful!

With VersaCover at her side, we are certain your mom will think of you every time she experiments with a new lasagna recipe or watches her favorite show while whipping up her tried and true chocolate chip cookies. Make it easy and enjoyable for her!

4. Help Mom back up her data!

Moms always have a lot on their minds, and backing up her data is probably the last thing she’s thinking about.

Honestly, the importance of backing up data couldn’t be higher than it is today. Spammers and viruses are becoming smarter when it comes to grabbing our information or wiping our computers clean, making that cherished album of pictures from your last family vacation or the funny video you made for her birthday disappear forever.

So grab a hard drive and back up her data for her so that she has a digital copy of everything she cares about. If she has a Mac, set up the hard drive to work with Time Machine.

Here are the steps:
1) Open “Disk Utility”
2) Select the hard drive
3) Click “Partition” to create a partition
4) Choose “Mac OS Extended” since this is the version that’s compatible with Mac’s Time Machine.

While this may not be your typical Mother’s Day gift, helping your mom preserve her favorite pictures and important files will pay dividends down the road.

5) Mom, meet Siri

Moms are busy people, and it often feels like they could use an executive assistant just to keep track of their daily tasks. Introduce mom (or reacquaint her) with the assistant that’s been hiding in her iPhone: Siri.

Siri can schedule appointments, look up information, read messages and emails and so much more.

Make your mom’s life a little easier by showing her how to ask Siri to find the nearest gas station or supermarket, or how to tell Siri to turn on the “Do Not Disturb” function for a better night’s sleep. After all, all moms could use more peace and quiet. If your mom loves audio books, Siri can turn any digital book into an audio book.

Here are the instructions to set this up:
1) Open “Settings” on her iPhone or iPad
2) Go to “General”
3) Click “Accessibility” and then click “Speech”
4) Turn on “Speak Selection” and “Speak Screen”

Now, all your mom has to do is open the book of her choice and swipe two fingers from the top of the screen in a downward motion. This will prompt Siri to start reading the book. That’s all there is to it!

There are countless functions that your mom will find useful and Siri can be her go-to gal for those much-needed perks.

The best part about these gifts is that you are creating memories with your mom – and that’s something that she will never re-gift.
